This space is for those who are tired of all the BS that is out there and just want to be honest about the struggles of becoming a “better” human. It’s for the ones who know they’re a work in progress but aren’t afraid to laugh at their own chaos. Whether you’re navigating the minefield of emotional intelligence, understanding who you are, trying to manage your ADHD, or simply figuring out how to master adulting without losing your mind, this blog is your home.
So, if you’re ready to embrace the mess, find humor in the madness, and take steps (even if they’re baby ones) towards a more Balanced Mind — then grab a seat, because this blog was made for you.

Welcome to
The Balanced Mind - Mastering Adulting as a Neurodivergent with ADHD and Dyslexia,
where I, a proudly neurodivergent human with ADHD and dyslexia, try to make sense of this whole “emotional intelligence” thing while also figuring out how to master adulting —preferably without losing my mind or my keys (again).
If you’re like me, navigating the world with a brain that feels like it has about 50k tabs open at once, then you know that mastering emotional intelligence isn’t just a luxury—it’s a survival skill. I’ve learned (sometimes the hard way) that when your brain is wired differently, understanding and managing your emotions can differentiate between a productive day and one where you cry because your favorite pen ran out of ink or you just don't know where to start with your long list of want to do and need to do.
Through a blend of insightful articles, practical tools & tips, and reflective exercises, we’ll explore how to tame the wild circus that is your mind, emotions, and—let’s be honest—your entire life. Oh, and don’t worry, we’ll do it with plenty of sarcasm, wit, and much-needed humor because if we can’t laugh at the chaos, what’s the point?
Let’s explore the Key Themes (With a Side of Sarcasm and Maybe a Coffee/Wine IV Drip)
Emotional Awareness: Have you ever found yourself tearing up during a cute puppy commercial? Yeah, me too. We’ll dig into why that happens and how to navigate those emotional landmines without feeling like you’re always one step away from a breakdown.
Self-Regulation: Or, as I like to call it, “How Not to Explode When Your Brain is Already a Firecracker.” Learn the art of managing those unpredictable emotions in a way that doesn’t involve throwing your phone across the room or drafting an epic, passive-aggressive email.
Empathy and Compassion: It turns out that building stronger relationships is a lot easier when you actually understand what the other person is going through. We’ll talk about how shared emotional experiences can help you connect with others—without turning you into a doormat.
Resilience and Adaptability: Because, let’s face it, life loves to throw curveballs when you’re already juggling flaming torches. We’ll explore how to develop the mental toughness to handle stress, adversity, and the unexpected without curling up in the fetal position.
Consistency in Personal Growth: Steady progress is the name of the game, especially when your brain is more of a sprinter than a marathoner. We’ll talk about making those small, consistent changes that lead to big transformations—without burning out or forgetting what you were doing halfway through.
And here’s the twist: all of this is coming from someone who just turned 50 and knows what it’s like to navigate the world with a neurodivergent brain (or is at least trying to). I’m here to share my journey, the ups, the downs, and everything in between, as I figure out how to Adult and find myself without losing my sense of humor or my dreams.
So, there you have it—the first episode of “Adulting with ADHD: The Never-Ending Circus.” I hope you’ve enjoyed this little dive into the madness of trying to master emotional intelligence while remembering where you left your keys (spoiler: they’re in the designated spot).
As much as I’d love to say I’ve got it all figured out, the truth is, I’m still stumbling, learning, and laughing my way through this journey of self-discovery and growth. Suppose you’re right there with me, wondering how to navigate life without a manual (because who reads those anyway?). In that case, you’re in the right place.
But don’t just take my word for it—stick around, subscribe to the blog, and join me on social media for daily doses of wit, wisdom, and the occasional “what the heck just happened?” moment. Let’s keep this conversation going, share our stories, and maybe—just maybe—figure out how to “adult” together, one chaotic, coffee/wine-fueled step at a time.
P.S. If you’re as neurodivergent as I am, hit the like, subscribe, and share buttons before you forget!
